Brundle receives OBE in New Year Honours list

Martin Brundle has received an OBE in the United Kingdom’s New Year Honours.

Brundle receives the honour for his ‘services to Motor Racing and to Sports broadcasting.’

During his rise to the pinnacle of motorsport, Brundle was considered in a similar class to Aryton Senna with the pair closely matched in a title race for the British F3 title. He made his Formula 1 debut in 1984 and spent 12 years as a driver with a variety of teams including Williams, Benetton and McLaren.

He finished on the podium nine times in his career and secured memorable victories in other motorsport classes including the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. 

Brundle has spent 25 years as a commentator and has gone viral on multiple occasions for his Sky Sports F1 grid walk with multiple classic interactions with celebrities ranging from professional footballers and pop stars. 

Continuing with Sky in 2025, Brundle has become a leading figure for the British broadcaster having been part of the team since the debut of the channel in 2012 with previous spells at the BBC and ITV.
